Welcome to Matt's Place!

Why is it called Matt's Place? Why not Jim's place?
Our greatest desire in beginning this program is to honor God, but our inspiration comes from the desire to remember the life of Matthew Steven Bertolaccini, a caring, fun-loving, athletic, and joyful Christian teenager who loved God, his family, and friends.  His life was cut short at age 13 by a tragic accident on March 11, 2004. Matt’s family and friends wish to perpetuate the spirit of his faith and compassion for others by dedicating Matt’s Place at Chesapeake Church to the youth of our Southern Maryland community.

Who is it for?
All of our programs and classes are designed for youth in grades 6-8.  High schoolers are invited to volunteer to help make the experience fun and engaging for the middle schoolers.

How do I volunteer?
Visit the
volunteer page of peakeyouth.com for more information on becoming a volunteer at Matt's Place.

What do you do there?
Matt's Place is all about having some fun while going deeper in your journey with Christ.  All youth attending Matt's Place take a fun and engaging class with a hands-on workshop feel.  (See what's coming up on our calendar.) There is also plenty of time to hang out and play games in our Journey room...like basketball, foosball, arcade games, Wii, ping pong, and any other fun and creative things we can come up with!  You can also do homework in our Mac computer lab or try out some of the other programs that we provide from time to time ranging from cooking to community service and lots of practical fun in between!

How much does it cost?
There is no cost for coming to Matt's Place.  There is a snack bar and all items are just a quarter.

Is there a schedule?
Yes...sort of. Whatever class is being featured will begin at 4:00 and end at 5:00.  You can come for just the class.  However if you want to try out everything else we have to offer, we open at 2:30 and go until 5:30.

How do I get there?
We do offer transportation in our sweet church van from some local schools.  If you go to NMS, WHMS, or PPMS, we can come get you.  Just be sure to turn in your
2010-2011 medical release form as well as a note to the school office giving Matt's Place at Chesapeake Church permission to pick you up from school on Thursdays.

Do I have to sign up?
Yes please do!  You can register on-line
here

Are you open every Thursday?
We are open most Thursdays.  We will be CLOSED if there is a school holiday, a weather closing, or a 2 hour early dismissal.  We will be OPEN if there is a 2 hour delay, because after school transportation remains the same.
